New Delhi : On the occasion of World Head & Neck Cancer Day, DFY India, under the Aastha Project, organized a comprehensive awareness programme in the Department of Medical Oncology, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, to promote oral hygiene, early detection, and prevention of head and neck cancers.
The programme featured the distribution of oral hygiene kits, an interactive awareness session, and an awareness photo booth to educate patients, caregivers, and visitors about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and recognizing the early warning signs of head and neck cancers.
The initiative was organized under the leadership of Dr. Kavita Sharma, Director, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, and under the guidance of Dr. Charu Bamba, Medical Superintendent, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital.
Dr. Kaushal Kalra, Head of the Department of Medical Oncology, Dr. Mukesh Nagar, Department of Medical Oncology, and representatives of DFY India attended the programme, reaffirming their collective commitment to strengthening awareness, encouraging early diagnosis, and promoting preventive healthcare.
In her message for World Head & Neck Cancer Day, Dr. Kavita Sharma, Director, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, said:
“Head and neck cancers remain a significant public health challenge in India.
Many of these cancers are preventable and, when detected early, are highly treatable. Raising awareness about risk factors, promoting good oral hygiene, and encouraging timely screening can significantly improve treatment outcomes and save lives. Such initiatives reflect our continued commitment to preventive healthcare and empowering communities through awareness and education.”
