
New Delhi : A grand event was organized on Tuesday at the college auditorium under the joint aegis of Shyama Prasad Mukherji College (Women), University of Delhi, and the Centre for Social Development (CSD). The occasion marked the Foundation Day of CSD, during which the Ambedkar Ratna Award and the Ambedkar Ph.D. Fellowship Award were conferred.

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Minister of Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, in his address, highlighted the similarities in the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee towards nation-building. He stated that the event holds special significance in the context of the birth anniversaries of both great personalities. He also noted that both Dr. Ambedkar and Dr. Mukherjee were members of the Interim Cabinet formed on June 3, 1947, reflecting their active role in nation-building.
In his address, the Minister emphasized that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was not only a pioneer of empowerment for marginalized and backward communities but also a visionary thinker, eminent economist, jurist, and social reformer. His ideas continue to inspire social justice and inclusive development.
The keynote speaker, Shri Suresh Jain, National Organization Secretary, Bharat Vikas Parishad, stressed the importance of active citizen participation in promoting social harmony and nation-building.
On this occasion, the Ambedkar Ratna Award was conferred upon distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions in the fields of social justice and social development.
The awardees of the Ambedkar Ratna Award are:
• Prof. Ajay Kumar Bhagi
• Prof. Subhash Anand
• Prof. Amit Kumar Singh
• Mrs. Nirdarshana Gowani
Further, a total of 15 research scholars were awarded the Ambedkar Ph.D. Fellowship Award this year for their efforts in bringing positive social change through their research.
The event was organised under the guidance of the Principal and Patron, Prof. Neelam Goyal. Dr. Rajkumar Falwaria, President of CSD, played a key role in successfully organizing the program along with his team.
On this occasion, the annual report of CSD was presented, the institutional Magazine was released, and a photo exhibition showcasing various dimensions of social development was organized.
The event witnessed the presence of eminent academicians, research scholars, students, and distinguished guests from different parts of the country. It served as an effective platform for dialogue on social justice, inclusive development, and academic excellence.
According to the organizing committee, the objective of the event was to inspire young researchers and promote meaningful research for nation-building and social transformation.
