Safdarjung Hospital has introduced a dedicated critical care follow-up clinic for patients discharged from the ICU, marking a first in India’s public healthcare system. The service will run through the government’s e-Sanjeevani OPD telemedicine portal, enabling patients and their families to consult critical care specialists remotely. Scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10–11 am, the clinic aims to address a major gap in post-ICU care in India. Many ICU survivors experience ongoing challenges such as physical weakness, cognitive impairment, or other complications after discharge, yet structured follow-up services are limited stated Dr Anirban Hom Choudhuri HOD CCM.
The initiative was inaugurated by Safdarjung Hospital Director Dr. Sandeep Bansal on 14 March. Dr Charu Bamba Medical Superintendent graced the occasion. All AMSs & CCM team were also present .
